PARIS {6th}: JARDIN DU LUXEMBOURG

11/05/2014

The Luxembourg Gardens in the autumn glow.

A while back I wrote how we've experienced an Indian summer in Paris this year. Well, make it a real long one now, because last weekend as we welcomed the month of November, the temperatures were still above 20°C (which is well above the seasonal average). So it's been exceptionally warm and beautiful autumn here and we've been able to enjoy parks and terraces far longer than usually...but I have an itch that the real Parisian fall/winter is knocking our door slowly and November will be the usual mix of grey sky, drizzle and humid cold. But let's not paint the devil on the wall just yet...

The past weekend we made our way through the Luxembourg Gardens and let's just say that we were not the only one enjoying the summer-like day out- it was literally bursting of people! Over the years, I've never ever seen this park as crowded as it was last Saturday afternoon. But really it's no wonder since it's one of the most centrally located parks that has plenty of space with lots of chill out chairs, a bond, activities for kids, restaurant patios, charming tree-lined alleyways, seasonal flowers and a number of statues. It's also home to the Luxembourg Palace that hosts the French Senate, and although you can't usually visit it inside, it's quite a nice-looking building even on the outside.

It really is a park that has something for everyone, and that's also the reason we often find ourselves wandering through it when in the neighbourhood. And this particular time around, the afternoon light was just so incredibly warm making all the tones almost golden. I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures on the way...
